The Philippines said the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit in Cebu will include discussions on the Middle East crisis and its impact on energy security in the region.
Malacañang said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. pushed for the inclusion of a unified ASEAN response to help mitigate the effects of the conflict on member states.
Officials said the summit will focus on key priorities such as energy security, food security, and the safe movement of ASEAN citizens amid global instability.
ASEAN leaders are also expected to strengthen cooperation on disaster resilience, including early warning systems and rapid humanitarian response.
The Philippines said the streamlined summit aims to produce practical outcomes addressing urgent regional challenges.
