ABS-CBN Corp. denied allegations that 68 retired executives received preferential treatment in the payment of retirement benefits from its pension fund.
The company said the fund’s major decline was due to payouts for nearly 6,000 employees retrenched after the loss of its franchise, as it fulfilled its obligations to workers.
It clarified that the retirees in question either received partial or no benefits and voluntarily agreed to defer full payment until the company’s financial position improves.
ABS-CBN also said the matter had been presented to its board and denied claims that a ₱2-billion capital infusion would be used for retirement payouts.
The company added that despite financial challenges since 2020, it has shown steady improvement and continues to meet its commitments.
