The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has urged the public to be vigilant from May 10 to 12, as vote-buying is expected to increase during this critical period.
Chairman George Garcia emphasized that vote-buying usually occurs on Saturday and Sunday before election day and early Monday morning.
He also reminded the public that the liquor ban will be strictly enforced, along with a prohibition on cockfighting during the election period.
In response to vote-buying, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has ramped up “Kontra Bigay” operations, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities.
Meanwhile, the government is enhancing security, ensuring timely compensation for poll workers, and implementing measures to combat misinformation through a new threat monitoring center.
