Pump prices are expected to rise next week, with diesel projected to increase by P3.75 to P4.25 per liter and gasoline by P2.50 to P3 per liter on Aug. 18.
The estimates are based on global oil prices and foreign exchange movements, although the final adjustment could still change.
Tight global fuel supplies due to refinery disruptions are supporting higher prices, while weaker demand and rising US crude inventories may limit the increase.
Last week, oil firms cut gasoline, diesel and kerosene prices by at least P4.70, P4.30 and P4.88 per liter, respectively.
Meanwhile, the government is working to establish a strategic petroleum reserve equivalent to 60 days of supply.
