Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV criticized DILG Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla for failing to arrest Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa despite the reported International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant.
Trillanes said Remulla was aware of the warrant but failed to act, questioning how Dela Rosa was able to leave Senate premises while under protective custody.
He also accused the DILG of not effectively enforcing the law and said law enforcement agencies would allow fugitives to remain free if they continued to fail in their duties.
Trillanes questioned the legality of granting Senate protective custody to Dela Rosa, arguing it should not apply to alleged crimes against humanity linked to extrajudicial killings.
Remulla responded that Trillanes is entitled to his own opinion on the matter.
