A United States Embassy official said the Philippines has the potential to help lead the global nuclear energy renaissance by developing a skilled workforce to support a safe and modern nuclear sector.
Speaking at a nuclear workforce forum in Makati, Jessica Simon highlighted the role of the Fulbright Program in building local expertise for the country’s civil nuclear ambitions.
She said workforce development requires contributions from researchers, engineers, and skilled technicians to ensure a functional and sustainable nuclear industry.
The forum brought together government agencies, academic institutions, and private-sector stakeholders to strengthen cooperation on nuclear energy development.
Simon also encouraged participants to turn discussions into concrete actions as the Philippines explores the future of nuclear power.
