The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) has directed government offices, banks, businesses, and other establishments to accept the digital National Senior Citizens ID (NSCID) on the eGovPH app as valid proof of identity for senior citizens.
The agency said the digital ID has the same recognition as the physical card and may now be used for banking and financial transactions, including account openings, loan applications, and benefit claims.
Senior citizens may also use the digital ID to avail of discounts, VAT exemptions, government assistance, and priority services.
The NCSC said the move aims to address issues involving lost or delayed physical IDs and make transactions easier for elderly Filipinos, especially those with mobility challenges.
The commission emphasized that the digital NSCID should be honored in all transactions where a senior citizen ID is required.
