Robin Padilla denied allegations that he helped Sen. Ronald dela Rosa escape the Senate building after a shooting incident on May 14, insisting their departure was lawful despite leaving together.
CCTV footage and police records showed the two heading to the Senate parking lot, where a van registered under Padilla’s name exited the premises early that morning.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla earlier warned that anyone helping dela Rosa evade authorities could face legal consequences under Philippine and ICC laws.
The Philippine National Police has since launched manhunt operations against dela Rosa following a DOJ order to enforce his arrest.
The Supreme Court earlier denied dela Rosa’s request to stop the International Criminal Court arrest warrant tied to crimes against humanity allegations linked to former president Rodrigo Duterte.
