The Philippine National Police (PNP) is intensifying its campaign against electricity theft and pilferage of power facilities and materials.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered stronger cases against violators to ensure convictions.
The PNP is coordinating with the Department of Justice to strengthen cases filed under Republic Act 7832, or the Anti-Electricity and Electric Transmission Lines/Materials Pilferage Act.
Nartatez said protecting power distribution is crucial to households, schools, and businesses.
He added that the PNP will enforce the campaign down to the city and municipal levels.
