Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III assured on Sunday that all Senate documents, including those of the Blue Ribbon Committee, are safe and intact after a fire broke out at the Legislative Technical Affairs Bureau office in Pasay City.
The Bureau of Fire Protection raised the blaze to second alarm before it was brought under control by 7:45 a.m., and no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Senate Secretary Renato Bantug said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, while water used to suppress the fire leaked into the Senate session hall.
Sotto confirmed that the Senate is working with the BFP and internal security to safeguard personnel and prevent similar incidents.
Maintenance crews are restoring the session hall, and sessions may temporarily move to the Philippine International Convention Center if needed.
