Foreign buyers of garments and furniture have postponed their scheduled visits to the Philippines after the gunfire incident at the Senate, according to the Foreign Buyers Association of the Philippines (FOBAP).
FOBAP president Robert Young said four foreign buyers, three for garments and textiles, and one for furniture, delayed their trips due to safety concerns and uncertainty following the incident.
The buyers were expected to finalize orders worth about USD300,000, but it is still unclear if the visits and transactions will be rescheduled.
Business groups warned that the Senate chaos could damage investor confidence and affect perceptions of the Philippines’ safety, stability, and governance.
They urged authorities to restore stability and focus on economic priorities to protect trade, investment, and business confidence.
