Hagonoy, Bulacan was placed under a state of calamity after floods affected 26 barangays due to monsoon rains, Typhoons Luis and Maymay, and high tide.
The Sangguniang Bayan approved the declaration on Aug. 13 following a recommendation from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Mayor Ma. Rosario “Charo” Sy-Alvarado Mendoza said the move will speed up relief operations for affected residents.
Food packs have been distributed, while a Child-Friendly Space was set up for children in evacuation areas.
The declaration came days after neighboring Calumpit also declared a state of calamity after 29 barangays were flooded.
