MAKABAYAN BLOC OPPOSES PROPOSED 2027 NATIONAL BUDGET

The Makabayan bloc rejected the proposed PHP7.2-trillion 2027 National Expenditure Program, saying it prioritizes infrastructure projects over basic social needs.

The group criticized the PHP75.76-billion allocation for infrastructure agencies, while social services face a 5.5% budget cut.

It also raised concerns over proposed budget cuts for education, public hospitals and agriculture.

The bloc said the government should instead provide more support for farmers, fisherfolk, workers, health care and education.

It urged the public to oppose what it called an “anti-people” budget and push for spending focused on national development and social services.
