Malacañang called out some TUPAD beneficiaries for allegedly staging cleanup photos and videos instead of performing their assigned work, such as clearing debris and declogging canals.
PCO Undersecretary Claire Castro reminded them that the program provides temporary income in exchange for actual community work.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. earlier ordered the cleanup of the Baclaran River after garbage accumulated in waterways following heavy rains in Metro Manila.
The government has also deployed DENR personnel, TUPAD workers, and other groups to help clear waterways and reduce flooding risks.
Castro urged the public to properly dispose of waste and cooperate with local governments to keep rivers and waterways clean.
