The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) began implementing reduced surge pricing for ride-hailing services on Saturday, Dec. 20.
In response, Lalamove announced it will charge zero percent commission on the entire fare for its TNVS partner drivers until Jan. 4, making rides more accessible during the holiday season.
InDrive also confirmed it has not collected any commission from surge pricing since Dec. 17, ahead of the LTFRB’s directive.
The LTFRB issued a memorandum last week reducing surge pricing by 50 percent following passenger complaints and prohibited ride-hailing companies from taking commission on the discounted surge fares.
Both companies said they will provide detailed in-app guidance for drivers and commuters regarding the new rules.
