The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has urged public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers to stop vlogging and using social media while driving, warning that the practice endangers passengers and other road users.
LTFRB chairman Vigor Mendoza said the agency is finalizing a memorandum circular reminding operators to ensure their drivers prioritize passenger safety at all times.
The move came after the LTFRB’s social media monitoring team observed a growing number of drivers producing real-time online content while operating PUVs, even with passengers onboard.
The agency said vlogging and content creation while driving violate Republic Act No. 10913 or the Anti-Distracted Driving Act, which prohibits the use of mobile and electronic devices while driving.
Once implemented, the memorandum circular will impose a P5,000 penalty on drivers caught vlogging or engaging in social media activities while operating PUVs
