President Marcos inaugurated the nearly finished Calunasan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) in Bohol on September 5, expressing optimism about its impact on local agriculture.
The P813 million project, now 97.94% complete, is expected to irrigate 300 hectares and benefit around 400 farmers in Calape and nearby barangays.
The irrigation system has been operational since a test run in August and aims to boost crop yields, improve cropping intensity, and lower irrigation costs.
Marcos highlighted the importance of irrigation in achieving food security and reducing the country’s reliance on rice imports.
Remaining work, including slope protection and a view deck, is set to be finished by November 2025.
