Angry protesters from youth and multi-sector groups stormed the DPWH-Cebu City office on Sept. 5, pelting it with tomatoes to denounce alleged corruption in the agency.
They accused the DPWH of implementing ghost projects while communities suffer from severe flooding.
The protesters, including members of Bayan-Central Visayas and Kabataan party-list, demanded accountability from the agency and the Marcos administration.
The DPWH spokesperson acknowledged the criticisms and said flood mitigation plans are being reevaluated with local governments.
After the DPWH protest, the group moved to the DOLE-7 office to call for a P1,200 daily minimum wage, with police reporting the rallies were peaceful.
