Senator Robin Padilla brushed off criticism over his recent performance in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, saying the backlash came from “trolls.”
Padilla defended his use of Philippine history and revolutionary aliases while questioning prosecution lawyer Mae Divinagracia about the use of fictitious names.
He cited several historical figures who allegedly used aliases during periods of armed conflict.
Padilla also backed Presiding Officer Francis “Chiz” Escudero’s ruling on impartiality and decorum in the trial.
However, he said Escudero should have identified those who repeatedly violated the sub judice rule.
