The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it is ready to support the government’s plan to impose a price cap on imported rice by helping ensure retailers comply with official prices.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered field commanders to deploy police personnel to public markets and grocery stores to monitor compliance with rice price limits.
He said police will coordinate closely with local government officials to enforce the measure.
The Department of Agriculture earlier announced plans to work with the PNP and the Department of Trade and Industry to monitor compliance with the proposed price ceiling.
The move is part of efforts to stabilize rice prices and ensure proper implementation of government regulations.
