The Department of Justice has ordered the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation to enforce the International Criminal Court arrest warrant against Senator Ronald dela Rosa over alleged crimes against humanity linked to the previous administration’s drug war.
Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida said the order followed the Supreme Court’s rejection of Dela Rosa’s plea for a temporary restraining order.
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the entire police force would be mobilized to locate and arrest the senator.
PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said authorities have intensified monitoring of airports, seaports, and other exit points to prevent Dela Rosa from leaving the country.
The NBI also warned that fleeing abroad may not help Dela Rosa since many countries recognize and support ICC warrants.
