The Philippines and Iran held their 7th joint consular consultation meeting in Tehran, marking the first such session in nearly a decade.
The discussions highlighted renewed commitment to consular cooperation and regular diplomatic dialogue, covering visa and immigration issues, judicial cooperation, tourism, sports, and other collaborative areas.
Iran emphasized opportunities in health and medical tourism as well as sports development, while the Philippines highlighted progress on the Executive Program on Tourism Cooperation and plans for an Action Plan on Sports Cooperation.
The Philippine delegation also shared updates on consular modernization efforts, including the New Philippine Passport Act, e-Visa system, Digital Nomad Visa initiatives, and e-Apostille digitalization.
Both sides agreed to continue cooperation, with the Philippines expressing readiness to host the next round of consultations in Manila.
