The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported smooth and orderly port operations nationwide on New Year’s Day, with no passengers stranded despite heavy holiday travel.
From 6 a.m. to noon, the agency monitored 23,525 outbound and 18,528 inbound passengers, inspecting 204 passenger vessels and 512 motorbancas.
PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan has ordered free transport on Coast Guard vessels in the coming days to accommodate returning travelers, while strictly enforcing vessel capacity limits until January 4.
All districts and stations are on heightened alert, with K9 teams supporting baggage inspections and enhanced port security.
The PCG also advised travelers to coordinate with its official channels for updates and travel-related concerns.
