Malacañang criticized Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano over his claim that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. rejected his proposal to provide P10,000 in financial aid to families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the administration would present evidence to refute what she described as the senator’s false allegations.
Castro also accused Cayetano of spreading baseless claims and shifting blame instead of taking responsibility.
Cayetano made the statement after the government announced a new cash assistance program of up to P12,000 for millions of low-income households affected by rising oil prices.
He claimed that his proposed aid package was not pursued after Marcos assumed office.
