GILAS READY TO DEFEND ASIAN GAMES TITLE DESPITE BROWNLEE UNCERTAINTY

Gilas Pilipinas will defend its Asian Games title in Aichi-Nagoya with or without injured naturalized player Justin Brownlee.

Coach Tim Cone said the team is keeping its 12th roster spot open for Brownlee, who is still awaiting medical clearance after suffering leg and hamstring injuries.

Gilas is currently training with 11 players in South Korea for tune-up games against the Korean national team before heading to Japan next week.

Cone said the Nationals are prepared to compete with an all-Filipino PBA lineup if Brownlee cannot join the team.

Brownlee was sidelined during the fourth window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers after sustaining injuries against New Zealand in July.
