Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano admitted that Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa rode in his car when the senator returned to the chamber on May 11 after months of absence.
Cayetano disclosed plenary on May 13, clarifying earlier confusion over claims that Dela Rosa used another senator’s vehicle to enter the Senate.
He said Dela Rosa asked for help in safely entering the Senate, prompting him to offer his car.
Dela Rosa’s return came as he participated in a key Senate vote that led to a leadership change and followed an attempted service of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant against him.
The senator is currently under Senate protective custody amid ongoing legal proceedings tied to alleged crimes during the Duterte administration’s anti-drug campaign.
