Eastern Samar Gov. Ralph Vincent Evardone backed the expanded Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), saying additional funding could help the province address development needs.
He said the funds could support roads, public facilities and services that may be difficult to finance through regular local revenues.
Eastern Samar’s municipalities have been allocated at least P390 million under the LGSF-Growth Equity Fund this year.
The national government has also earmarked P57.872 billion for the LGSF in 2027.
Evardone stressed that transparency and accountability are needed to ensure the funds directly benefit communities.
