Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Sen. Rodante Marcoleta and former congressman Mike Defensor may face subornation of perjury charges over alleged coaching of former Marine Orly Guteza’s testimony.
Lacson said the Department of Justice and Office of the Ombudsman could launch a preliminary investigation into the alleged false testimony.
Guteza has since recanted his claims and accused Marcoleta and Defensor of forcing him to testify in exchange for money and scholarships for his children.
Lacson called for tougher penalties against those who induce others to commit perjury.
Marcoleta and Defensor are currently detained for plunder before the Sandiganbayan over alleged undeclared campaign funds.
