The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will ensure the proper implementation of the TUPAD program for beneficiaries assigned to flood mitigation efforts, according to MMDA Chairperson Don Artes.
Around 10,000 TUPAD beneficiaries will be deployed to help clean waterways and creeks in Metro Manila as part of preparations for the rainy season.
Artes said the program will be strictly monitored to ensure workers properly carry out their tasks and not misuse the initiative.
A memorandum of agreement was signed between MMDA and DOLE, with 500 beneficiaries already deployed and more set to undergo orientation on waste management and segregation.
The initiative will also involve local government units in profiling 3,600 additional beneficiaries for assignment in critical areas.
