A total of 745 participants joined a fundraising fun run on June 28 to support the medical and welfare needs of women persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City.
The event, organized with support from Kababaihan Partylist and partner agencies, drew participants from government offices, uniformed services, private groups, and running communities.
Proceeds will fund medical, laboratory, hospitalization, and other welfare-related needs of women PDLs, as well as future health programs in the facility.
Officials and organizers said the initiative highlights the importance of ensuring dignity, healthcare, and support for women in detention.
The event also strengthened inter-agency cooperation and community engagement while raising awareness of the needs of women PDLs.
