LEVISTE FACES NBI SUMMONS OVER ALLEGED SEX SCANDAL PLOT

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said it will summon Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste and former Cabinet official Jacinto Paras as part of its investigation into an alleged plot to implicate Executive Secretary Ralph Recto in a fabricated sex scandal.

The probe stemmed from a human trafficking operation in Manila, during which one of the rescued women claimed she was recruited to falsely accuse Recto in exchange for money.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag said investigators are treating the case as an alleged destabilization plot and are examining messages and other evidence linked to the suspects.

Leviste and Paras have denied any involvement in the alleged scheme.

The NBI said its investigation is ongoing.
