MARK VILLAR SEEKS TAX INCENTIVES FOR SENIOR, PWD DISCOUNT COMPLIANCE

Sen. Mark Villar is pushing for a bill that would grant tax credits to businesses providing mandatory discounts to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Senate Bill No. 2494 seeks to amend the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010 and the Magna Carta for Persons with Disability.

The measure proposes allowing establishments to deduct the cost of qualified discounts directly from their national tax liabilities instead of treating them only as tax deductions.

Villar said the proposal would ease the financial burden on businesses, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), while ensuring beneficiaries continue receiving their mandated discounts.

He added that the bill aims to establish a fairer tax system that protects senior citizens and PWDs while helping businesses remain financially stable.
