President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to simplify and speed up the processing of civil registry documents, including birth certificate corrections.
He highlighted difficulties faced by marginalized citizens and those in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) who lack primary IDs.
Marcos cited the government’s eGov app and the PSA e-Certificate service as key tools to make digital and physical documents more accessible nationwide.
He emphasized that all government agencies should recognize digital IDs while still requiring physical appearances in certain cases to prevent fraud.
Marcos also encouraged marginalized Filipinos to use barangay clearances to obtain National IDs and urged others to take advantage of digital government services.
