President Marcos criticized St. Timothy Construction Corporation for the failure of a P96.4-million flood control project in Calumpit, Bulacan, which was completed but is already damaged and ineffective.
During his inspection, Marcos pointed out that more than 200 meters of revetment were not built, the dike was full of holes, and important tasks like desiltation and dredging were not done as required.
Divers found structural issues, including gaps between beams and sheet piles that compromised the project’s stability.
Marcos vowed to hold the contractor and other involved parties accountable and trace where the funds went.
The President’s visit follows his earlier exposure of irregularities in the government’s P545-billion flood control programs, with Bulacan having the highest number of projects despite not being an official flood-prone area.
