The Land Transportation Office clarified that there is no blanket ban on e-bikes and e-trikes, saying these vehicles are still allowed on city and municipal roads.
It explained that restrictions only apply to national highways and major roads like EDSA, C-5, and Roxas Boulevard due to road safety concerns involving speed differences with other vehicles.
LTO chief Markus Lacanilao said the policy is preventive and aims to protect riders and motorists from accidents.
The clarification came after a group raised concerns about the alleged lack of consultation and the impact of restrictions amid rising fuel prices.
The LTO added that information drives continue while final guidelines on e-bike and e-trike use are being coordinated with transport agencies.
