The DOTr and LTO announced that e-bikes and e-trikes will be banned from major roads starting December 1, but users will first undergo an information campaign.
The ban targets unregistered vehicles often carrying passengers without licenses or insurance, posing safety risks.
Users will still be allowed to operate within barangays and subdivisions, according to current regulations.
The DOTr will coordinate with LGUs and deploy traffic enforcers to inform operators before any apprehensions are made.
Public consultations will also be held to discuss safety measures, registration, and possible licensing for e-bike and e-trike users.
