The Office of the Ombudsman questioned Senator Loren Legarda’s repeated extensions of her medical travel authority while she and her son, Rep. Leandro Leviste, face an investigation over alleged undelivered solar energy projects.
Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano said Legarda’s third or fourth extension appeared “quite suspicious” given the ongoing case.
The National Bureau of Investigation said Legarda left for France while Leviste traveled to Hong Kong on Aug. 2.
The Ombudsman is investigating the two lawmakers over alleged P10-billion graft and plunder linked to Leviste’s renewable energy company.
Legarda denied any wrongdoing and said her medical leave was filed in accordance with Senate rules.
