The Manila City Government released P5 million in capital assistance to 1,000 small business owners on May 7 under the Kaagapay sa Kabuhayan Program to support livelihoods amid the ongoing Middle East crisis and its economic impact.
Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso led the distribution at the San Andres Sports Complex, where each beneficiary received P5,000 in seed capital for micro-enterprises such as food stalls and small vending businesses.
He encouraged recipients to use the aid as starting capital for long-term growth, stressing discipline, reinvestment, and financial responsibility instead of immediate spending.
Domagoso also highlighted stories of past beneficiaries who turned small assistance into successful businesses, urging participants to adopt the same mindset of resilience and entrepreneurship.
The program also included the distribution of 100 starter kits across various livelihood skills and benefited over 1,000 residents from Manila’s districts, with priority given to vulnerable sectors.
