Manila has deployed an AI-powered drone and mapping system capable of predicting floods up to two hours in advance, Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said.
The technology uses 3D mapping and ArcGIS to analyze rainfall, elevation, and drainage data for early flood detection.
It also enables the city to monitor infrastructure, zoning, and health trends at the barangay level.
Domagoso said the system is part of Manila’s push for data-driven governance and improved disaster preparedness.
He added that the technology could help save lives and protect property through earlier flood warnings.
