Sen. Bato Dela Rosa broke his nearly two-month silence on his 64th birthday, saying he is “alive and well” and awaiting justice.
His absence followed rumors of a potential arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC), fueled by remarks from Ombudsman Boying Remulla.
Dela Rosa, former police chief under President Rodrigo Duterte, insisted that if he faces any cases, he wants to be tried in a Philippine court rather than by a “foreign court,” calling this stance an act of patriotism.
He emphasized remaining patient, composed, and dignified while awaiting any legal proceedings.
The statements come amid continued scrutiny of the war on drugs, which resulted in at least 30,000 deaths and drew criticism from human rights groups locally and internationally.
