The Department of Education (DepEd) has expanded the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program (GPP) to nearly 45,000 schools nationwide for the 2025–2026 school year, supporting the Marcos administration’s push to integrate nutrition and food security into basic education.
The program supplies fresh, locally grown produce to improve student health and nutrition, especially in underserved communities, while serving as outdoor classrooms for teaching agriculture, sustainability, and cooperation.
Budget allocations for GPP have doubled since 2021, reflecting DepEd’s commitment to sustainable nutrition education and community involvement.
Complementing GPP, DepEd continues to expand Farm Schools, providing agriculture-focused education and entrepreneurship training to prepare learners for careers in agribusiness.
Through these initiatives, DepEd aims to empower students with knowledge, skills, and values that contribute to national development and long-term resilience.
