The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) signed a Data Sharing Agreement to strengthen investigations into financial networks linked to the illegal drug trade.
Signed on July 31, the pact establishes a framework for sharing information to improve intelligence gathering and law enforcement operations.
The agreement also aims to promote transparency, accountability, and more efficient public service through closer interagency cooperation.
PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez said the partnership reinforces the government’s efforts to disrupt the financial infrastructure supporting illegal drug activities.
The agreement was signed during the BIR’s 122nd anniversary celebration.
