The Philippine national trail running team won the overall championship at the 2026 Southeast Asia Trail Cup in Cibodas, Indonesia, finishing with 586 points ahead of host Indonesia and Singapore.
The team captured 11 gold, six silver, and seven bronze medals, highlighted by John Ray Onifa’s victory in the men’s long trail event.
Filipino athletes also dominated several categories, including podium sweeps in the men’s and women’s long trail competitions.
Philippine Trail Running Association President Tin Ferrera said the tournament also served as a selection event for the country’s representatives to the Asia-Pacific Trail Running Championships in China this November.
Onifa said the team’s success reflects the growing strength of trail running in the Philippines and inspires more athletes to compete internationally.
