Lawyer Manases “Mans” Carpio, husband of Vice President Sara Duterte, questioned the legality of the authorization to release their income tax records, saying the issue should undergo judicial review.
He said they will continue to respect the Senate Impeachment Court and comply with lawful processes but maintain that constitutional and legal questions remain.
Carpio added that their legal team found no tax deficiency assessment issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue against either him or the Vice President.
He also raised concerns over whether the required legal procedures were followed before the records were released.
Carpio said the admissibility and evidentiary value of the documents should ultimately be decided by the Senate Impeachment Court in accordance with the law.
