The Alliance of Concerned Teachers urged the Department of Budget and Management to fund salary increases, calling for a P50,000 entry-level pay for teachers and higher compensation for education support staff.
The group also pushed for a P36,000 minimum salary for support personnel and a P5,000 personnel economic relief allowance.
ACT leaders criticized the government, saying President Marcos must back up his statement that teachers are “more important than ever” with concrete budget action.
They also claimed that billions intended for salary upgrades and retirement benefits were reduced in the proposed 2026 national budget.
Lawmakers from the group said the cuts were redirected to large lump-sum allocations for local government units.
