At least four groups have applied for permits to hold protest rallies in Quezon City during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 27.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said it is coordinating with the Quezon City government but has not disclosed the identities of the groups.
Authorities are finalizing security and traffic plans, including possible road closures and alternate routes around the Batasang Pambansa and nearby areas.
About 20,000 police officers and personnel from other government agencies may be deployed to secure the event.
The SONA, mandated by the Constitution, will outline the administration’s accomplishments and priorities for the coming year.
