FARMERS SEEK LAND REFORM COMMITMENTS FROM MARCOS AHEAD OF SONA

Ahead of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address, farmers’ group Katarungan called on the administration to deliver concrete actions on genuine agrarian reform instead of making promises.

The group said the government’s performance should be measured by its ability to secure land rights, protect farmers, and improve rural livelihoods.

It cited unresolved land disputes, delayed land ownership, harassment of agrarian reform beneficiaries, and inadequate government support as major concerns.

Katarungan also criticized the Department of Agrarian Reform for failing to effectively address long-standing issues faced by farmers.

The group urged the President to prioritize meaningful reforms that ensure justice, security, and sustainable livelihoods for Filipino farmers.
