Health authorities in Mindanao are urging the public to wear face masks to prevent the spread of Monkeypox (mpox) amid rising cases in the region.
The Davao City Health Office confirmed four new mpox cases, all stable and under close monitoring at the Southern Philippines Medical Center.
In Davao del Sur, Governor Yvonne Cagas has mandated face mask use in public spaces and ordered the suspension of swimming pool operations following a confirmed case in Magsaysay town.
Neighboring Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay provinces have also issued warnings and health advisories after their first confirmed cases, including a three-year-old child.
Officials emphasize mask-wearing, especially in enclosed spaces, as a key precaution against mpox infection.
