The Department of Health (DOH) reminded the public to practice safe sex ahead of Valentine’s Day to prevent sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
The agency emphasized that trust alone is not enough, urging people—especially those dating or unmarried—to use protection such as condoms.
DOH highlighted that preventive tools like condoms, lubricants, and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) are available for free.
The World Health Organization notes that condoms are safe, effective, and widely accessible, while PrEP helps HIV-negative individuals reduce their risk of infection.
The department encouraged everyone to be proactive in safeguarding their sexual health while celebrating the holiday.
