The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) warned Filipinos against accepting overseas jobs that could involve recruitment into foreign armed forces, citing serious legal and safety risks.
Participation in foreign conflicts may violate Philippine law and even lead to loss of citizenship.
The DFA urged job seekers to verify employment offers and recruitment agencies with the Department of Migrant Workers to avoid illegal or deceptive schemes.
The advisory follows reports of two Filipinos allegedly fighting for Russia in the Ukraine conflict, with one reportedly killed and another captured as a prisoner of war.
Authorities stressed that such situations put lives and welfare at grave risk and should be avoided.
